The Metro Boston CIT-TTAC is honored to work with our partner police departments. We truly are a learning community and could not continue our work without the ongoing support and participation of the amazing patrol officers, sergeants, lieutenants, and many others who attend our trainings. We carefully review all feedback received and strive to ensure that each training is better than the last. We also want to acknowledge the amazing de-escalation employed by officers after they’ve completed CIT training.
In the past our Crisis Intervention topics have covered: Sequential Intercept Model, Law Enforcement Collaboration, Responding to Complex Psychiatric Disorder, Crisis Negotiation, Community Based Flexible Support, Emergency Service Providers, Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative, B.A.T.T.L.E.M.I.N.D., Hoarding Disorder, Homelessness, Court Clinician, Alzheimer’s, PTSD, Trauma and Self Care, Addiction, and Substance Abuse.
Other trainings we have held include: CIT Overview for Administration, Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety, Motivational Interviewing, and Blue Courage.
If you or anyone in your department would like to know more about these trainings or topic areas contact sozit@police.somerville.ma.us.
Satellite Location
In 2015, we partnered with the Andover Police Department to have a satellite location for the Metro Boston CIT-TTAC. Since then we have held several successful trainings, and now consistently offer 3 CIT trainings a year, other CIT related trainings, and more recently Dispatch training in Andover.
Thank You to Chief Patrick Keefe and the officers of Andover Police Department that make this possible!
Community Partners
Our program simply would not be effective without input and feedback from our community members. Huge thank you to all of our community partners: NAMI, Vinfen, Cambridge Health Alliance, Mobile Crisis Teams, addiction treatment services, and the many, many others who provide services to individuals impacted by behavioral health. Your work and partnership makes it possible to connect community members who are having difficulty to life changing services. Together, we make a difference.
Beyond CIT
As part of our training evaluation process, the Metro Boston CIT-TTAC has created a short CIT Follow Up Survey for Patrol Officers, Sergeants, and Lieutenants who have completed the 40 hour CIT training.
The survey provides an opportunity for CIT trained officers to share their experience utilizing and applying the knowledge and skills learned. This is also a chance to express any overall thoughts and impressions. This initiative is still in its infancy so we continually seek out feedback to inform practical application of complex responses.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Any questions or concerns can be direct to Sabrina Ozit at sozit@police.somerville.ma.us.
CIT Trained officers are the foundation of a successful CIT program – thank you for all of the amazing work that you do!
