Training and Technical Assistance Center

The Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) works collaboratively with Police Departments who are interested in implementing CIT and are in need of guidance or assistance. Our team is passionate about working with the existing records management system to establish and implement codes that can more accurately track incoming behavioral health and substance abuse calls. We also work closely with departments and aid in strengthening relationships between emergency service providers, mental health services, and community resources.

Technical Assistance Provided:

Much of our success is a direct result of your help. Your assistance with grant funding allowed us to get additional training. We have formed an outstanding relationship with our Emergency Service Provider. Our officer’s ability to respond to mental health calls for services have increased dramatically
— Chief James McIntyre, Stoneham Police Department

Together We Can. . .

Working side by side, the technical assistance we provide can play a vital role in assisting your department on identifying individuals who need to be connected to services. Accurate record keeping also provides context which can inform referral needs - with the goal of reducing crisis and police calls for service. Ultimately, this also impacts a department’s ability to move toward accreditation and access to other grants and resources that could increase capacity.

TTAC also offers Advanced Trainings for officers who have already taken CIT Training, and are interested in expanding awareness about various behavioral health factors, additional resources, and expanding their skills and confidence for interacting with individuals impacted by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and addiction.
